28 miles of Greenway trails. Any level of hiker will find getting off the paved roads in Block Island enjoyable, with trails that take you to lovely beaches or surprising views.

North Lighthouse. While the South Lighthouse gets more visitors, many find the North Lighthouse one of the most romantic places on the island, You can’t get into the building, but the way out to it - a few miles of single lane road - is perfect for mopeds or bikes. Mopeds. At 7 miles by 3 miles, Block Island can be big to explore on foot alone - but it’s perfect for bikes and mopeds. Just one of the reasons Block Island is known as “Bemuda of the North.”

Mohegan Bluffs. It’s 250 steps down a cliff face to the beach, but everyone agrees on three things: 1) The climb is exhilarating, not difficult 2) It feels more like the coast of California than Rhode Island and 3) it’s an absolute must-see.

Shopping in Old Harbor. Half the fun of visiting Block Island is exploring the many shops and stores, most of which are centrally situated on or near Water Street in Old Harbor.

Surprising nightlife. Everyone loves the ambiance of Block Island - and that includes some surprisingly good bands, some of whom come from the mainland for a rockin’ good time.
